After a lengthy hiatus, Warrior Pro Wrestling returned last week with its first show in over five months. The buzz around both the reasons for the hiatus, and the fallout of Turkey RUMBLE highlighted owner Tank McDaniel's lengthy media call this morning, which was mostly to promote tonight's LIVE WARRIOR GROUNDS #35 show on TWITCH (5:30pm PT)

He also touched on a wide range of topics including...

The hiatus was largely due to complications around Tank's own health and contract negotiations. Though he insists he now has a clean bill of health (and feels great after getting in the ring last week) Tank confirmed rumors that he recently had minor back surgery. While recovering, several contracts came due, including World Champion Doc Wyatt. With Lefty McDaniel no longer involved in the front office (Tank gave no reason why) there became a leadership vacuum that delayed the booking of shows and hammering out new contracts for talent. Tank was clear those issues are now behind the company.

Doc Wyatt now has a minority ownership stake in the company. This was confirmed to be a sticking point in negotiations. Tank did not elaborate other than to say the stake was financial and carried no decision making power.

Warriorversary will still happen, and will act as the end of year show. The headliner will be Doc Wyatt vs Rampage Hunter for the World Title, and take place on December 20th. The rest of the card will be announced in the coming weeks.

Brick Casey is retiring at the end of the year and will be taking a front office job with the company. Tank mentioned this has been in the works for over a year, and that more information on his role would be announced early next year. Brick's last match will be against Tank at Warriorversary.

The Tag Team Titles have been vacated. Tank left the decision up to Austin Baron, who is the defacto number two at the company right now. A tournament will take place starting tonight to determine a new champion, with the finals taking place at Warriorversary.

WARRIOR GROUNDS #35

Running their first house show in almost a year, Warrior Pro Wrestling delivered a fast paced, entertaining show that also seemed to be starting the slow build for Warriorversary 5. There was big news to come out of the show as well, with the Tag Team Tournament kicking off, the Women's Title on the line, and the shocking return of MACHINE GUN MAYHEM!

Tower vs Brick Casey

Recap:
This seemed a bit like a passing of the torch. The first match in what looks like the unofficial Brick Casey Retirement Tour, the veteran traded blows with the rookie TOWER, who looks every bit the part of a future star. The big man dominated the exiting vet, and rumors after the match seemed to grow louder that he was seeking "representation" going forward in the ring...

Winner: Tower

Round 1 Tag Tournament: Tank & Lefty McDaniel vs Bay Ballerz

Recap:
The McDaniel's win last week was shadowed in controversy, but there was no question who won this match. The Ballerz did their best to pull off the upset but Tank & Lefty seemed determined to get out of the first round, and a Left Handed Scissors in the middle of the ring left no doubt who was moving on.

Winner: Tank & Lefty McDaniel

Jimmy Hawkins vs Vic Baron

Recap:
If anyone was curious how Jimmy Hawkins would react in his first match after two failed World Title matches, they have their answer. Flyin Jimmy used his speed advantage to keep Vic Baron off balance, and the former world champ struggled to come back from eating multiple superkicks.

The real story though was what happened *after* the match. Sneaking into the ring from the crowd, Machine Gun Mayhem- who hasn't been seen in the United States since Warriorversary 3 over two years ago- brutally attacked Hawkins after the bell before getting chased off by security.

Winner: Jimmy Hawkins

Round 1 Tag Tournament: Reed Brothers vs Gears of War

Recap:
The two original tag teams of Warrior Pro faced off one more time in an opening round matchup. Historically, Gears of War have owned this matchup- but the Reeds have been refocused this year, and using their speed advantage proved to be the deciding factor to pick up a win over their long time foils.

Winner: Reed Brothers

MAIN EVENT Warrior Pro Womens Championship: Lizzy Jett (c) vs Della Wyatt

Recap:
There were those whispering that if Della Wyatt couldn't pull off the win tonight, did she really have a future in this division? Would this cement Lizzy Jett as the most dominant champion in the titles early history? It turns out, both questions were a bit hyperbolic. Della Wyatt was her normal dominant self, cutting off the ring and throwing her superior strength around to neutralize the champion's quickness advantage. It appeared at one point that Lizzy may have gassed Wyatt, but the challenger simply started throwing chokeslams at the champ until she couldn't get up anymore...

Winner: AAAANNNNND NNNNNEEEEEEEWWWWW CHAMPION Della Wyatt!

After show news and notes…
A relatively quick press conference, with Della Wyatt giving a short statement that she didnt plan on losing the belt anytime soon, and that she would be curious to see who her opponent would be at Warriorversary (she also made it clear she had no intentions of a rematch with Lizzy Jett).

We were told that Jimmy Hawkins was taken to a local hospital for precautionary reasons but that he was expected to be back in action soon. Tank McDaniel also announced a press conference for Tuesday- in San Antonio- to announce the week's card. Sources say World Champion Doc Wyatt will also be present, and we'll get the first words from him since the company began running shows...

DOC: Listen, I'm not going to take questions- you hacks are as predictable as a John Logan meltdown in a big match. Yes, I now own part of this place- any money I can take out of decedents of that ugly McDaniel family is a win in my book. No I don't care that I brought the company to a halt. I AM the company, and I wasn't going to do shit till I was paid like it. No, I don't have decision making power, I just get the checks- so keep blaming Tank for all the dumb crap this company still does. Yes, I am in fantastic shape and ready to defend my title against all takers. That answer all your questions? Yes? Alright I'm outtta here...

REPORTER: Uhhh actually, there is one question

DOC: (Staring bullets at the reporter but slowly sitting down)

REPORTER: Your thoughts on Rampage? I mean... technically you never rematched after he took the title off you back in 2019...

DOC: First off, that's barely a question. That sounds more like you're just taking a dig at me over losing a match four years ago. Second- I will address my opponent for Warriorversary in the ring, at Warrior Grounds. I'll give aaaaaaall my thoughts. And spoiler, none of them are positive. This press conference is over.

Afterwards, Warrior Pro released the final card for tonight's show. Besides the final first round match ups in the Tag Tournament, a Doc Wyatt promo was confirmed plus a main event that has been building up through social media over the last few months. Red Masterson, who has long claimed "Wild" Bill Bronson (the original owner of the Big Gold Buckle) to be his relative, has been issuing challenges to the unofficial owner Vic Baron. While most of those challenges have gone unanswered, a recent video from Wild Bill himself triggered Vic's grandfather, Baron von Baron, to accept the challenge. This one's got layers folks...

Warrior Grounds #36

Everything is bigger in Texas, and Warrior Pro Wrestling is no exception- with Warrior Grounds #36 setting up some huge stories as we wind ever closer to Warriorversary 5. The biggest by far was a promo turned confrontation between Rampage Hunter and Doc Wyatt- the World Champ and #1 Contender- that saw a shocking alliance formed.

"Young Gun" Memphis vs Tommy O'Malley

Recap:
Well, its official- Warrior Pro Wrestling has its newest full time roster member. After another impressive win, Bobby Memphis was presented with a full time contract by Austin Baron. The match itself was entertaining but one sided, with The Masshole seemingly unable to get his offense to ever kick into gear. The real question now for the young Memphis, is who his first official opponent will be and when we might see that match.

Winner: Bobby Memphis

Round 1 Tag Tournament: Music City Wrecking Crew vs Grim Reapers

Recap:
This one left a bad taste in everyone's mouth. When the match kicked off, both teams immediately rushed the ring and started brawling, causing the referee to have to call in security and restart the match- this time with no cut play rules. The result was neither team being allowed to show the, you know, teamwork that makes both of these pairs the top of the class. Otto Alderson would hit a spine buster for the win, but this really feels like a rematch waiting to happen.

Winner: Music City Wrecking Crew

Markus Winter vs Roy Carter

Recap:
Its been years since we saw Roy Carter wrestle a singles match under the Warrior Pro banner, but the Jackson Hole Outlaw was in top form, busting Markus Winter open early and working the Viking's arms relentlessly before finally finishing him off with a GAME OVER piledriver.

After the match, Carter called out his stablemate Red Masterson for a shot at his Dragon Fire Championship, which could take place next year at the annual New Years Gold show.

Winner: Roy Carter

Round 1 Tag Tournament: LORDs Force vs The Calhouns

Recap:
The two outside teams made up the last first round matchup for the tag tournament, and this one was by far the best of the bunch. Both teams put on a show, brawling all over the building and showing why they got the invite in the first place. The LORDs Force ended up doing just enough to claim victory and move on, setting up a rematch with The Reed Brothers, a team they last fought in 2020 to a time limit draw.

Winner: LORDs Force
Rating: ★★★★

DOC WYATT PROMO

Recap:
Before the main event could get started, World Heavyweight Champion Doc Wyatt came out for what was suppose to be a live promo to build up his main event match with Rampage Hunter at Warriorversary. That... never happened, as Paco Pequeno- followed by Rampage, Dungeon Dominguez, and El Destructo- stormed the ring and brutally attacked Wyatt. With the crowd chanting for the Jackson Hole Outlaws (who were all in the locker room), it was JOHN LOGAN who shocked the arena and came racing to the ring to try and even the score. Logan, who has been in a heated feud with Paco Pequeno, helped the champ clear the ring before offering his hand out to Doc. With the crowd bursting at the seems, the Champ accepted the offering and the two bitter rivals seem to be, for now, united by common enemies.

MAIN EVENT Big Gold Buckle Challenge: Vic Baron vs Red Masterson

Recap:
Ok, so try to follow along. This match was for the Gold Buckle, which Vic Baron owns because he stole if from the rightful owner Boss Ross Foreman- who in fact beat Baron for the buckle but was attacked after the match. Baron von Baron, Vic's grandfather and wrestling legend, legitimized Vic as the champion despite never winning, and sanctioned a defense against Red Masterson- who has family ties to Wild Bill Bronson, the original owner of the buckle (thats a longer story). To add additional family drama, Vic's father, Austin Baron, cornered Red in the match.

The match itself was a classic, with Vic kicking out of an Unforgiven and hitting a big moonsault to keep the buckle. After the match, Austin confronted Vic and demanded a match, for the buckle, at Warriorversary- with Baron von Baron officiating.

Winner: Vic Baron

The Baron Family Drama match was confirmed for Warriorverary, with Baron von Baron agreeing to a one time waive of the rule insisting the buckle only be challenged inside the state of Texas. Elswhere, Warrior Grounds #37 - which will take place in Mexico under the Lucha POWER banner, will have a giant main event: Doc Wyatt & John Logan vs Rampage Hunter & Dungeon Dominguez!

The rest of the card for the show was also announced...

Warrior Grounds #37 LIVE ON TWITCH from Arena Antiguo in Mexico Tonight at 5:30pm PST:

Bobby Memphis vs Hijo de Blue Puma
Memphis is making his official debut with the company following his graduation from the Baron Wrestling School, and his first match will be against the super talented second generation luchador. Could this be a preview of future champions? Could we be seeing history in the making? Maybe? But at the very least we should expect a fast paced opener with two guys out there making a name for themselves.

Tag Team Tournament Semi Finals: Tank & Lefty McDaniel vs Music City Wrecking Crew
The rematch of the fight that started this whole tournament. Technically, The McDaniels won the initial meeting last month at Turkey RUMBLE, but the use of an illegal headbutt was enough to put the titles on ice till a tournament could settle everything. Now the rematch will see who goes on to the finals at Warriorversary- expect a dog fight in this one.

Dash Yamada vs Viper Lopez
Viper cut her teeth in Lucha POWER, and she still carries a fairly large fanbase in Mexico. Meanwhile Japanese star Dash Yamada has her own following in the country, so expect an active crowd for this one. The stakes are high, with rumors the winner could be in line for a title shot at Warriorversary.

Tag Team Tournament Semi Finals: LORDs Force vs Reed Brothers
The other semi-final match in the tag team tournament is also a rematch. Back in 2020, these two teams fought to a wildly entertaining draw, with both teams claiming they would have had the edge had the clock kept ticking. Now we'll get to see a definitive winner, with a shot at the belts an added incentive for victory.

Lucha POWER Championship: Diego Guerrero vs Vaquero
Diego Guerrero has been the most dominant champion in the modern era for Lucha POWER, but he might be facing his toughest challenge in the wildly athletic Vaquero. Expect this to be a heavy high spot affair, with both men known for big energy matches featuring a lot of high flying. Vaquero has been managed by Paco Pequeno in the past, so don't count out some outside shenanigan's in this one as well...

MAIN EVENT: John Logan & Doc Wyatt vs Rampage Hunter & Dungeon Dominguez (w/Paco)
A team that most would think completely inconceivable somehow is taking place, for one night at least. Doc Wyatt and John Logan have been nothing short of blood rivals since Warrior Pro Wrestling opened its doors for the first time over 5 years ago- will now stand as tag team partners for the first time. Their opponents are no less menacing, with Rampage Hunter and Dungeon Dominguez making up a brutal combination. This could bring down the house, and at the very least will prove a fun preview to the Warriorversary main event scheduled for January where Rampage will face off against Doc Wyatt.
