After a bit of a break, Warrior Pro Wrestling quickly announced its next show, REMATCH, will air Live THIS SATURDAY, May 13th at 8am from Gorilla Hall. The show's name is expected to be quite literal, with all title matches expected to be rematches, plus a big grudge match between Rampage Hunter and Byron Worthy taking place inside a steel cage. The show will shockingly be the first show in San Jose in the calendar year, with only one other show taking place so far under the Warrior Pro banner.
That is expected to change however, with the company also announcing a "Summer Heat" tour that will start the end of May and into June- with further details expected to be announced next week.
The Card for this Saturday's show:
Tower official Debut vs Tommy Masshole
Tower, the 7 foot giant rookie that beat Markus Winter in February, is finally getting his first match as an official Warrior Pro roster member. This will be the first Baron Family graduate since the famed class of 2019 (which included Byron Worthy, Winter, and the Bay Ballerz). His first test will be the drunken vet Tommy, wrestling his first singles match in over a year.
Grim Reapers vs MYSTERY OPPONENT
On twitter the Reapers issued an open challenge to anyone- Warrior Pro or otherwise- to come down to San Jose and fight the former champs. The Reapers have uhhh... STRUGGLED a bit as of late, and are looking to get back into the title picture after a year of mostly waiting for title defenses...
John Logan vs Nightmare Clown
This match was actually booked down in Mexico, with Nightmare Clown announcing that he would accept Paco's Million Dollar Challenge and face the former world champion. Logan was quick to accept and the match was made. Paco is not expected to be in San Jose for the match, but sources confirm his muscle- El Destructo will be at ringside. Logan has so far turned away all of Paco's challengers, a monsters whos who list including Young Blood, Dungeon Dominguez, King Memba, and El Destructo himself. Rumor is Logan has title aspirations this year, and a win could give him a real argument to be the next challenger.
WPW Woman's Championship: June Allgood (c) vs Lizzy Jett III
The trilogy fight for one of Warrior Pro's hottest rivalries as the Queen of Knees takes on the companies longest reigning champion. Lizzy won the first meeting back in November, only for June to take back her win- and the belt- in the rematch in February. This will be the rubber match, and I would expect it to be dog fight that should crystalize the winner as one of the top women in the sport.
WPW Tag Team Championship: Mountain Men (c) vs Music City Wrecking Crew
In the first match of this feud dubbed "The big sweaty hair white guys Feud" (trust me it'll catch on) the match ended in a draw. This one won't, as we've been told it will be a no time limit match where a winner will be decided. The question will be if Vic Baron and Triple J will be at ringside to cause problems, and if they do- how it impacts the outcome.
Cage Match: Rampage Hunter vs Byron Worthy
This has been one of the best under the radar feuds for almost four years now. Still just a Baron Wrestling School trainee, a brash Byron Worthy shocked the world when he beat Rampage Hunter, fresh off his first world title reign. This would set off a rivalry that has bounced from heated to friendly over the years, but culminated last summer in a bizarre draw where both men got locked in a wrestling stance and refused to break the hold. In the rematch at Warriorversary- we were denied again a real ending as Rampage blew out his quad at ringside mid match. In his return this February, Rampage shocked the world by joining President Evil's team at War Party... only to be a casualty of Byron Worthy's impressive 3 man elimination performance.
Now, we finally will get the true decisive finish... inside a cage...
World Heavyweight Championship: Doc Wyatt vs Jimmy Hawkins II
Jimmy Hawkins has, since being signed by Warrior Pro, been stuck with the label of "Future Star." At New Years Gold he seemed ready to finally shed that label, except The Present just so happens to be Doc Wyatt, and he's not ready to relinquish that throne. Even though the match was hard fought, Doc did Doc things and won with brass knuckles. That underhanded tactic didn't sit well with Warrior Pro management and Flyin Jimmy will get a second crack at taking the leap, and defeating the mountain...
Random News and Notes:
While not confirmed, there has been a steady stream of rumors that a tag tournament will be announced in conjunction with the Summer Heat tour, potentially with the tag champs participating... The Big Gold Buckle has been in limbo since the Baron Family essentially stole it from Boss Ross Foreman. It has been rumored that Austin Baron was upset about how that went down, and a possible father son match could be in the cards if the Summer Heat tour visits Texas...Lefty McDaniel, out of action with a broken ankle suffered by President Evil at Warriorversary, had a follow up procedure today to remove screws. Reports are that his recovery is progressing but no timeline was given for a potential return to the ring.
