The first live Dragon Fire show in over a year took place on the second day of the new year, and proved to be a news worthy event. Despite a strangely high percentage of foreigners present, the show was still lively, and as we exit the show we leave with a new Champion crowned, and a new challenger emerging. If you missed the show, you can still check it out here:
Otherwise, you can check out the full recap of the show here:
Park Hyun-Woo & Masahiro Suzuki vs Team Fighting Spirit (ZIP Japan)
Recap:
Two of the top stars from the legendary ZIP Japan helped open the show up against two of Dragon Fire’s hardest hitters. The match was a slugfest, but neither side seemed interested in, you know, winning the match. Instead the fight turned into a contest of who could hit the other the hardest, which is subjective I guess. Regardless match time ran out on this, with neither side fully satisfied- feels like a rematch in some form is likely in order.
Winner: DRAW

Roy Carter vs Kenta Aoki
Recap:
The four man tournament started off proper with newly signed Roy Carter, a former Warrior Pro tag team champion taking on Kenta Aoki. Roy seemed to control this match early on, limiting Aoki’s quickness until the rising star turned the tables, nailed an outside dive, and hit the Aoki Crusher that knocked Roy Carter out cold.
Winner: Kenta Aoki
Rating: ***
Koji Tanaka vs Hideki Nomo
Recap:
Fast paced and brutally physical, this match quickly moved into a rising scale of who could hit the bigger move before the other man couldn’t get up. Three Ace Valley Bombs later, Hikedi Nomo proved to be the last man standing and earned a shot at the finals.
Winner: Hideki Nomo

Kenta Aoki vs Hideki Nomo
Recap:
Often looked at as the two top stars of the company, this is likely the first match in a long struggle over who will be the true Ace of the company. The match started off with a good mix of back and forth from each wrestler, but you could see quickly that the brutality of Nomo’s first match was impacting him, and Aoki seemed fresher and quicker. The fatigue left Nomo open and Aoki took advantage, hitting another Aoki Crusher to claim is first ever heavyweight championship.
Winner: AAAAAND NEEEEEEEW Dragon Fire Champion.. Kenta Aoki!
Rating: ****
After the show, as Aoki celebrated with the crowd, Dragon Fire legend Dragon Mask II came out to the ring and a stare down proceeded. Dragon Mask then pointed at the belt, then offered a hand of congratulations. Aoki took it, and Dragon Mask left the ring as both men stared each other down as the show went off the air.
