This Thursday will mark the beginning of the 4th annual Golden Gate Tournament, the event that spawned Warrior Pro Wrestling back in 2018. This event, a league style tournament featuring stars from both inside and outside the promotion, will crown the next challenger for the World Heavyweight Champion- to be defended at Warriorversary III later this summer. Block action kicks off this week, with a very special main event- recently crowned World Champion Young Blood will make his first title defense against the recently dethroned champ John Logan in a Barbwire Deathmatch. Recent approval for the match from Golden Touch promoter and Senatorial Office Chairman Midas Mathews cleared the way for a follow up to the match of the year candidate these two men had more than a month ago. You can catch every match of the tournament LIVE on Twitch, every Thursday at 5:30pm: Block A Rundown:Block A features none other than the reigning Intercontinental and Lucha POWER champion, Doc Wyatt. Doc is not only the inaugural winner of the G2, but also a three time finalist. His road to a fourth final will be a tough one, with first time participants and former world champs Cowboy Johnston and Pantero Negro Jr both looking to make a splash and cash in a shot at the Warrior Pro title. Jimmy Hawkins and Danny Angelo are two of the hottest young stars in the business as well, and dont sleep on future Hall of Famer Austin Baron- another former World Champion who could be the dark horse in the block. Block B Rundown:Last years G2 winner Machine Gun Mayhem headlines the B Block along with former World Champ Vic Baron. Both have had quiet years so far, and a strong G2 would catapult them back into the title picture. They'll have stiff competition from the outside, with La Guerra's Tocapelotas and STRUGGLE's Skip Legday making their promotional debuts. Rising star's Markus Winter and Byron Worthy round out the block, with Winter hoping to build off of last years promising run and Worthy hoping to make a splash in his G2 debut.

On the eve of Night One of the 2021 Golden Gate Tournament, Warrior Pro Wrestling gave a couple quick updates as it touted that this years tournament might end up being the best yet. Among their updates: - Rampage Hunter has been cleared from the concussion he suffered last month at End of the Road. The news was less promising for Red Masterson, who's post match attack from an unknown assailant has left him still recovering from two broken ribs. Also recovering is Bo Leslie, who has begun rehab after knee surgery that should keep him out for the remainder of the year. - Negotiations are ongoing over Doc Wyatt's first defense of the Lucha POWER championship. Word is there have been squabbles over who his opponent should be, which has caused a bit of a rift between the two promotions long time owners. Night One Previews: Group ADoc Wyatt vs Danny AngeloThe only man to reach the finals in each of the first three G2 tournaments will face off against one of the hottest young stars in the promotion. Both men are without a loss in 2021, and a win for Doc would firmly establish himself as yet again the man to beat in the block. Angelo, meanwhile, could catapult himself into stardom with a huge upset in the first tournament match of his career. Pantero Negro Jr vs Jimmy HawkinsJimmy Hawkins used the tail end of last years tournament to re-establish himself as a rising star within the promotion, upsetting John Logan and taking Doc Wyatt to the brink. This year, he hopes to make a run at the whole block- but he'll have a mighty tall order in his first match against the former Lucha POWER champ. Pantero enters the tournament for the first time, and may have his sights set on proving he belongs at the top of any promotion. Cowboy Johnston vs Austin BaronA Block wraps up with a battle of future Hall of Famers. Cowboy Johnston has done it all in an illustrious career, and a G2 win would be a feather in the cap for the legendary Texan. His opponent to kick things off is a fellow Texan with an equally illustrious past, though one that spans a bit farther back. Austin Baron will look to turn back the clock and see if he's got enough juice to make one last run at the world title- and chop down his fellow Texan in the process. Group BMarkus Winter vs Machine Gun MayhemIt was just a year ago that Markus Winter shocked the world and upset Machine Gun Mayhem in their first encounter in the G2. They kick things off this year with the rematch that could go a long way towards who takes control of the B block. MGM went on to win the whole tournament last year, but Winter was close to stealing the Block until a last day loss. This could be a dark horse pick for MotN. Vic Baron vs Byron WorthyDespite all his accolades, Vic Baron has yet to put together an impressive tournament during his time in Warrior Pro. He'll have a tough hill to climb right off the bat against fellow technician Byron Worthy- who is looking for his first tournament to cement his status as more than just a promising young talent. The winner here could end up with a vital tie breaker as the tournament gets into the ladder stages. Skip Legday vs TocapelotasA showcase of two outside talents, as both Skip Legday (STRUGGLE) and the infamous Toca (La Guerra) face off in their first G2 match. Theres little scouting report on either man, with Skip being out for over a year with a... "upper leg" injury and La Guerra not running shows since the pandemic hit. Win or lose, both men have a reputation of entertaining matches, so this one should deliver. Warrior Pro World Heavyweight Championship: Young Blood (c) vs John Logan (barbed wire deathmatch)For the first time in the history of the tournament, the World Champ will defend the title on the inaugural night. John Logan and Young Blood had a war of a match a month ago, and the stipulation of a barbed wire match would lend one to think another brutal classic is forthcoming. The winner will face the G2 winner at Warriorversary III, so all eyes will be on this match to see which of Midas Mathews prized acquisitions will headline one of the sports biggest shows of the year. All the action kicks off tomorrow, 5/12 at 5:30pm PT on TWITCH

The kickoff to the 2021 G2 was en eventful one, albeit with matches that were quick and to the point in most cases. Scroll down for all the matches, results, and post show notes... Doc Wyatt vs Danny AngeloRecap:One could argue there isnt a hotter wrestler in the business right now than Doc Wyatt. The regining, defending, champion of two promotions make quick work of Danny Angelo- a man many picked to be the dark horse of the block. If this was any indication, "The Outlaw" is focused on a fourth straight trip to the finals... Winner: Doc Wyatt Rating: ***Pantero Negro Jr vs Jimmy HawkinsRecap:Easily the match of the night, with both men working at a blistering pace more reminiscent of a Lucha POWER match. Jimmy Hawkins seemed poised a couple of times to steal a night one upset, but a second Destino from the former lucha champion proved too much to overcome. Winner: Pantero Negro Jr Rating: ****Cowboy Johnston vs Austin BaronRecap:The shocker of the night. Cowboy Johnston, who many picked as the top contender to dethrone Doc Wyatt, looked sluggish from the get go and the elder statesman of the Baron Family pounced on the opening, staying aggressive and nailing the former Lone Star champ with a stunner right in the middle of the ring for the upset. Winner: Austin Baron Rating: ***Markus Winter vs Machine Gun MayhemRecap:If Machine Gun Mayhem had ring rust from his extended time off, he hid it well. There would be no upset for Markus Winter like there was last year- MGM controlled the match from the opening bell and finished off the Last Viking in short order with a thunderous Bone Crusher powerbomb. Winner: Machine Gun Mayhem Rating: ***Vic Baron vs Byron WorthyRecap:This was the technical, mat based wrestling affair that was promised- and you could see the seeds of a future rivalry planted as both men took turns dictating the match. Byron even looked poised to present the second upset of the night, but a brutal cross arm suplex from the former champ laned Worth right on his head and ended his night. Winner: Vic Baron Rating: ***Skip Legday vs TocapelotasRecap:The match didnt completely live up to the hype, but it was entertaining nonetheless. Toca pulled out several of his tricks against the top heavy STRUGGLE opponent, and seemed to even have the advantage for a spell- confusing Skip with his unorthodox style. But in the end "Not Skull Mayday"'s giant arms proved too much for the lucha and a giant elbow drop sealed the victory. Winner: Skip Legday Rating: ****Warrior Pro World Heavyweight Championship: Young Blood (c) vs John Logan (barbed wire deathmatch)Recap:This didnt live up to the first match, and honestly it never seemed like the defending champ had his heart in it. John Logan looked bound and determined to do whatever it was going to take to get his belt back, while Young Blood seemed.. distracted. That distraction proved fatal as it opened him up to a crushing Logan's Run that put him down for the count and secured Logan's second World Title victory. Winner: And NEEEEEEEW World Champion John Logan Rating: ***Notes from after the show...John Logan was gracious in victory, thanking Young Blood for the rematch and calling him "the toughest man I've ever stepped into a ring with- and I've stepped in there with some tough sons of bitches." He also mentioned that he and Tank have spoken several times over the past month in an effort to address the rocky relationship since his signing with Golden Touch... Young Blood meanwhile exited the building without interview, simply stating he was "gladly getting the fuck outta here." Doc Wyatt took exception to Logan's comments. "Toughest? That lazy ass forget who's beat him 10 times? This promotion has two champions. One of them hasnt lost in almost a full year, has defended his title six times, and gone to another country and won another belt. The other is "World Champ" John Logan. Both Vic and Austin Baron mentioned how cool it would be if the finals were a father/son affair. "I never wrestled my dad, and as remote the chance is, I can't think of a cooler scenario than the G2 Finals bein father vs son." No injuries were reported for the night... STANDINGS AFTER NIGHT ONE:

Post show comments from Cowboy Johnston and Young BloodCowboy Johnston: Sumthin' wasn't right, sure wasn't right out there. Ah never lost a match like that in mah life before, got caught an' dropped like ah was a curtain jerkin' nobody out there! Jist a stun n' dun, that's all there was to it! Ain't takin' nothin' 'way from Austin, the man's dun this thing for a long time, an' he's a right professional at it, ain't no shame losin' to a guy like that. Jist...not like that. An now ah'm startin' out already behind an' lookin' to climb mah way back in it. So ah took some time to think, just where in Hell and New York City did ah go wrong? Cowboy: So after I did some right ponderin' on the matter, ah think ah figgered it out. Yah know what, everythin' been so right lately, that there's what's gone real wrong with mahself. Ah got fat, happy an' married. Got me mah wonderful lil' Stanley boy grown himself up fast, couldn't ask for a better cowgirl to ride with than Hailey, ah even get along well with mah in-laws, hell, Duke an' Lily-Anne were already like an extra set a' folks to mahself! Won everythin' ah ever wanted to win, got that Number One, got that Lone Star, done ah lot o' other stuff along the way. So ah got nothin' to prove an' life's movin' quick 'way from that ring. Cowboy: But ah ain't close t' bein' done yet! Got me a big ol' G2 to win here, and damn if ah ain't gonna give it mah best shot! Back in the ol' days, ah learned how to brawl, the Texan way when ah grew up. Then ah rode south of that there Rio Grande, and ah learned how to do the Lucha thing. An then ah went over to Japan, and ah picked up how you ride the road of a king. But mah point here, is that ah've always been adaptable to where ah'm at in life, an' maybe ah just gotta do that one more time...an then all of yah folks better look right on out! --- On Friday morning, Young Blood made an appearance on Digital Dave Doolittle's Ring Beholder podcast, and the results were as predictable as they were abrupt: Young Blood: You want to know the fuckin' truth? I didn't give two shits about that belt. Didn't want that shitty little plate of gold, didn't give a fuck about that bitch-made John Logan. I don't even fucking know why I had it to begin with. So, Warrior Pro can eat my ass. Logan can eat my ass. And any wrestling fans who have a problem with that can fuck themselves. Midas, Sweenson, Tank, that bitch who runs Evergreen, and especially you, Doolittle, all of you don't like what I say, you don't like what I do, then that's your fuckin' problem. Digital Dave Doolittle: Look, I never said I had a problem with anything you said. I brought you on the most venerable professional wrestling podcast in the world so you could tell your side of the story, because if you're not aware, the internet... YB: The internet is full of pussies and chickenshits! Just like you, always fuckin' stirring up shit, Doolittle, if I was in the room with you right now, I'd fuck you up so bad... Digital Dave: And that's all we're going to hear from Young Blood on this morning, a man who couldn't even produce more than an 85% rating in a feud culminating title match in his own match type against his hated rival. He wants to make excuses, he wants to say he didn't care, all I know is that the records are going to say he lost, and that he didn't even lose in a match you'll want to see again!

Transcipt from SKIP LEGDAY's recent phone interview on KRCK 103.9 - The Tri-State Area's Home of the ROCK! BIG DADDY JIMBO: Welcome back perverts! This is the Morning Zoo with Big Daddy Jimbo and The Weasel Dog!
(the soundboard plays a wolf howl, followed by a brief guitar solo)
JIMBO: And with us on the phone right now, all the way from the west coast, you know him, you love him, you wonder how he stands on those things, it's STRUGGLE Pro Wrestling superstar, Skip Legday! (the soundboard inexplicably plays the "YEEEAH" from the beginning of "Fight for Your Right" by the Beastie Boys, followed by canned applause) JIMBO: Now Skip, you recently scored an impressive victory over Guerra De Sangre's Tocapelotas, and I gotta say, considering some of your recent injury history - (the soundboard plays the sounds of walnuts cracking, followed by that "yaahhh-hoo-hoo-hoo-hooey" sound from old Disney cartoons) - You were taking a pretty big risk going against someone with the unorthodox style of Tocapelotas. (the soundboard plays five seconds of "My Nuts" by the Fat Boys)
SKIP: Well bro, I knew what I was getting into when I signed the contract for the match. And I have to admit, it was a pretty tense moment when he went for the Shattered Dreams, but I picked up the win, and that's what really matters.
JIMBO: But Skip, I gotta say, you really took a big boot to the cojones there! (the sounboard plays a similar nut-cracking sound, but this time with the Howie Scream) I gotta know, how are the boys doing? SKIP: Uhh... Really? Everything's fine. At the end of the day, a lower-body injury can't stop me, because this is an upper-body business, and nobody's got an upper body like Skip Legday. JIMBO: There you have it folks! Now stay tuned, because coming up next, the Weasel Dog is phoning in a bomb threat to the Pentagon!

Night One of the G2 proved to be something of a one sided affair, with most of the matches being quick and decisive. This week should see a different trend, with many of the block favorites facing off against each other to determine what could be all important tie breakers down the line. Action kicks off TOMORROW at 5:30pm PT on TWITCHGroup AAustin Baron vs Pantero Negro JrAustin Baron looked like he was twenty years younger last week, shocking the world with a decisive upset over Cowboy Johnston- but the real question is, can he do it again? He faces a tough test in Pantero Negro, the Lucha POWER ace that put down the red hot Jimmy Hawkins in the show's opening match last week. The winner will sit at the top of the block with two major tie breakers- expect this one to be a potential show stealer of an opening match. Jimmy Hawkins vs Danny AngeloBoth men entered this tournament with high hopes, and now both are fighting to not come out of the gate 0-2. "Flyin" Jimmy looked more impressive of the two, but Angelo has a long history of burying high flyers in their tracks. Look for a classic speed vs power matchup against two of the companies top young stars. Doc Wyatt vs Cowboy JohnstonOld rivalries return in a star crossed A Block main event. Cowboy will look to cut down his long time rival to even out his record, while the IC champ will be looking to build on his impressive week one victory. Many picked these two to be at the top of the block by the end of the tournament, and Cowboy might need this win to keep any kind of pace with the pack leaders. Group BByron Worthy vs Skip LegdaySkip Legday's Warrior Pro debut was successful, if not a little... dangerous... given his opponents "upper leg" focus during the match. He'll have a chance to create some distance at the top of the standings with another win, but he'll face a hungry Byron Worthy, who gave a hard fought effort in a tight loss to Vic Baron last week. A win for Worthy would muddy up the standings and give an opening to the rest of the field, but he'll have to avoid the STRUGGLE vet's massive lariats in order to do that. Tocapelotas vs Markus WinterToca's first match was everything promised-entertaining- but it wasnt effective in securing an actual win. We'll see if that strategy changes as he faces Markus Winter, who is also looking to bounce back for his first win. The winner should see themselves right back into the mix for the block lead, while the loser will have a bit of a hole to dig out of. Machine Gun Mayhem vs Vic BaronThe main event of Night Two is a rematch from last year's Warriorversary main event. In that match, Machine Gun won a hard fought match for the World Championship. This one will have less on the line, but a win here will be a crucial tie breaker between the two block favorites. This could end up being an early favorite for the match of the tournament.

Night Two of the G2 proved to be an exciting night of action, with a couple early "Match of the Tournament" bouts coupled with one of the more eventful finishes in a Warrior Pro ring in some time. Scroll down for all the matches, recaps, and post show interviews as well as a look at the updated standings for each block. Austin Baron vs Pantero Negro JrRecap:Austin Baron was out to prove that last week was no fluke, and he seemed determined to run his upset counter to two- dictating the pace and not allowing the luchadore to fly. It didnt matter though, as Pantero Negro would avoid the match ending stunner from last week and hit the veteran with a brutal Slingblade to remain undefeated. Winner: Pantero Negro Jr Rating: ****Jimmy Hawkins vs Danny AngeloRecap:An instant classic of a match proving the future of this company is in good hands with young stars like these two. Both men through everything they had at the other, with a run of near falls ending with a Superkick heard round the world that would give Jimmy Hawkins the victory and put Danny Angelo in a rough 0-2 hole. Winner: Jimmy Hawkins Rating: *****Doc Wyatt vs Cowboy JohnstonRecap:As one should have probably assumed, this one ended up getting out of hand. After 15 minutes of back and forth that seemed to indicate this match would be another in a line of classics between the two bitterest of rivals, Doc would hit a superman punch that would knock Cowboy out of the ring... with pure chaos ensuing. Roy Carter, sitting at ringside would procede to double team Cowboy, with Doc running constant interference to prevent a DQ. Finally, it would be Red Masterson, who has been on the injured list after a mystery attacker broke two of his ribs, that would come to the aid of Cowboy and get the action back into the ring, where both men- bloodied- would continue to battle until a time limit draw was announced. Winner: DRAW Rating: ***After the match, the carnage would continue with both men brawling to the back where Warrior Pro officials would finally separate both men and eject them from the building. Byron Worthy vs Skip LegdayRecap:The remaining Outlaw in the building looked very impressive in this one, pushing the action and keeping his top heavy foe off balance and unable to unleash his devastating lariats. Eventually, it would be the second Phoenixplex from "Prime Time" that would put Skip out for the count. Winner: Byron Worthy Rating: ***Tocapelotas vs Markus WinterRecap:Another wild match from the La Guerra star, and another sense of a missed opportunity. Toca would have Markus Winter dead to rights with a pair of low blows and a brass knuckles punch that floored The Last Viking (and somehow escaped the view of official Bill Moore). But the luchadore refused to cover, allowing Markus to recover and mount a comeback that ended in a Winter is Coming for the victory. Winner: Markus Winter Rating: ****Machine Gun Mayhem vs Vic BaronRecap:The two favorites to take the block, and two men with bitter history, did not disappoint in the main event. Vic looked confident early on, dictating the pace and avoiding the huge bombs that typically end a Machine Gun match. But the unhinged former champion proved hard to keep down, absorbing a Baron Slam and the same straight jacket suplex that Baron used to win Night One. The more he hung around the more you knew it was coming, and eventually MGM found his opening and ended VIc's night with a thunderous Bone Crusher triple powerbomb. Winner: Machine Gun Mayhem Rating: *****After the show several stars were made available to the media...Tank McDaniel:Red Masterson:Pantero Negro Jr:Machine Gun Mayhem:STANDINGS AFTER NIGHT TWO:

We're crossing the halfway point of block action this week as the standings start to actually matter and for several wrestlers, tomorrow's match could be make or break for their chances. In fact, the current leaders could sap the rest of the tournament of much drama with a win. Both Machine Gun and Pantero Negro, if victorious, would own all the tie breakers against the top contenders- making the main event's of each block the highest of stakes. Action kicks off TOMORROW at 5:30pm PT on TWITCHMatch Previews: GROUP AJimmy Hawkins vs Austin BaronBoth men have been extremely impressive in their first two weeks, and both lost nail biters to the current block leader. That makes this a must win for both men to keep any shot at claiming the block lead. Austin Baron has looked 10 years younger- to the point that the wily vet poses a serious threat to anyone he's stepping into the ring with, but Jimmy Hawkins has been out to prove all year that he's ready to make the leap into the main event scene. This one's a toss up, but could steal the show right off the bat. Danny Angelo vs Cowboy JohnstonThe odds are not good for either of the two men sitting at the bottom of the block. Both must essentially win out, and get a lot of help, in order to have any shot. Expect this to be a slug fest between two brawlers desperate for a win and could come down to whether Cowboy's big match experience, or Danny Angelo's youth and athleticism win out in the end. Pantero Negro Jr vs Doc WyattThe main event of A Block has all the makings for an instant classic. Not only is Doc looking to overtake the Lucha POWER rudo in the standings, but there will be a matter of pride on the line as Pantero- a former Lucha POWER champion- takes on the current champ. Doc will be without his usual Outlaw backup after the events of last week, but that's never slowed him down in the past. Can Pantero stake his claim not only to the A Block standings but also as the next challenger to the Lucha POWER belt? GROUP BTocapelotas vs Byron WorthyIts a tough thing, trying to decipher what goes through a man like Toca during a wrestling match. In each of his first two contests the La Guerra lucha seemed to control the pace with his highly unorthodox style, only to seem reluctant or uninterested in finishing the match and earning a victory. The result is essentially a win or go home scenario this week against the bright star of Byron Worthy. "Prime TIme" is currently sitting in the middle of a crowded block hoping to gain ground on Machine Gun, and a win here would catapult him up the standings, keeping him alive as one of the few remaining challengers to MGM that control his own destiny. A loss would crush those hopes and put the young Outlaw on the outside looking in... Markus Winter vs Vic BaronBoth men have looked impressive in their wins, and both have suffered at the hands of block leader Machine Gun Mayhem. This very well could be must win for both as a loss would put either man in a tough tie breaker position. Vic looked better against MGM than Markus did, and he'll have to walk into the match with the advantage, but Markus Winter has proven to be an upset machine in these tournaments, and a win here could be the next step in his evolution as a wrestler. Skip Legday vs Machine Gun MayhemThe main event for the night will no doubt be a ticket to the guns show. Skip Legday hasn't looked quite the same since he took a hard, unprotected shot to the... "upper thigh" in his opening match with Toca- potentially re-aggravating a previous injury he's been just now working back from. He'll need to be at the top of his game in this match though, because Machine Gun has been on the war path- and a win here would be trouble for the rest of the block.

Night Three is in the books, and the block standings are starting to take shape with two weeks left before the Finals. Last night may have been the best show to date in the tournament, with a good mix of nail biter finishes and a couple of shocking upsets. Scroll down for all the matches, recaps, and post show interviews... Jimmy Hawkins vs Austin BaronRecap:Austin Baron has stepped into a time machine. The vet continues to show flashes of his prime throughout the tournament, with this match perhaps his crowning achievement to date. He controlled the pacing of the match from the get go, slowing Hawkins down and preventing his high flying offense be for nailing Jimmy with a stunner to pick up his second victory in the G2. Winner: Austin Baron Rating: ***Danny Angelo vs Cowboy JohnstonRecap:Perhaps the match of the tournament so far. Danny Angelo, who after coming into the tournament with high expectations, had looked a bit over his head in his first two matches. Not this one- he took it straight to the legend from the opening bell and kept the pressure on throughout the match. Cowboy, feeling the sense of urgency threw everything he had at the promising young kid but nothing he did could keep Angelo down. In the end Angelo would hit a sitting Doctor Bomb for his first tournament win, with the veteran Cowboy looking at a third winless match. Winner: Danny Angelo Rating: *****Pantero Negro Jr vs Doc WyattRecap:Another hellova match against two men meeting in a ring for the first time. The early stages of the match seemed like your typical Doc Wyatt match, Doc allowing offense to setup his own (typically illegal) counters- but on this night the counters never came. Pantero was relentless- hitting multiple Destino's and a slingblade before finally nailing a top rope Dark Phoenix Splash for the impressive victory. The win keeps the lucha undefeated in block play, and hands Doc his first loss in over a year. Winner: Pantero Negro Jr. Rating: ****Tocapelotas vs Byron WorthyRecap:Toca's first two matches in the G2 had proven to be high in entertainment but low in actual results. Not so on this night. Toca spent no time busting open Byron Worthy, and was relentless the entire match- pushing the pace and taking it too the young Outlaw with a viciousness we had not seen in his previous matches. The strategy paid off, with Toca hitting his signature powerbomb to claim his first win. Winner: Tocapelotas Rating: ****Markus Winter vs Vic BaronRecap:Maybe the most shocking upset in the tournament so far. After some hard hitting back and forth, Markus Winter kicked out of a Baron Slam, only to turn around and hit his patented Winter is Coming to steal a win from the former world champion. Vic Baron seemed primed to be at the top of the standings all the way to the last day, but now he sits in a deep hole while Markus Winter becomes the dark horse pick to take the Block should Machine Gun falter in any way. Winner: Markus Winter Rating: ***Skip Legday vs Machine Gun MayhemRecap:The battle of impressive arms closed out the night with a match filled with hard strikes and vicious closelines. In the end, it was a high angle powerbomb from Machine Gun to the STRUGGLE star that ended the night and kept last years G2 winner undefeated. Winner: Machine Gun Mayhem Rating: ****After the show a few wrestlers were made available to the media… As Pantero Negro was addressing the media after his victory, Doc Wyatt approached and interrupted...Machine Gun Mayhem:Markus Winter:Before Markus can say a word an unknown man appears, whispers in Markus' ear and both men leave the pressroom without saying a word to reporters...STANDINGS AFTER NIGHT THREE:

We're entering the home stretch of the tournament, with two weeks to go and both blocks with the potential to be wrapped up a week early. But there is upset potential that could hold off any celebrations for at least a week... In the A block, Pantero controls his own destiny owning tie breakers against both Austin Baron and Doc Wyatt. He would need to lose both matches for anyone to catch him, and if he does, Doc's draw with Cowboy could end up being the deciding factor. The B block is more straight forward- a win from Machine Gun or a lose from Markus Winter and this is all over. If neither ends up happening, we could be in for a nail biter of a final week for both men. Action kicks off TOMORROW at 5:30pm PT on TWITCH Match Previews: GROUP AAustin Baron vs Danny AngeloLast week Danny Angelo had the match of his life against a Texas legend, and this week he's going to have to try and duplicate the effort. Austin Baron has been the story of the tournament, looking like a man 30 years younger than his age suggests and stringing together multiple decisive victories against top competition. The old man will need to fight off the impressive young kid to stay in the hunt for the block- a loss will doom those dreams. Doc Wyatt vs Jimmy HawkinsIf Doc were to win out and Pantero lose his remaining matches, it would give Doc the block based on a draw- a scenario that seems completely plausible given his history of weaseling into the finals every year. Standing in the way is Jimmy Hawkins, who last year took Doc to the brink and has suffered another round of excruciatingly close matches this year. A win for "Flyin" Jimmy would be a nice consolation prize- becoming the first person to eliminate Doc Wyatt from the block lead. Cowboy Johnston vs Pantero Negro JrThis has not been the tournament anyone expected for Cowboy- sitting as the lone competitor without a win. He has a major opportunity this week though to play the spoiler, handing Pantero his first loss and send the block into the last week undetermined. He'll have a tall order though, since Pantero has looked unstoppable so far despite a tough early slate of matches. One has to wonder though, with his attention on Doc and the Lucha POWER championship, that he might be a little too distracted to put his sole focus on closing out A Block. GROUP BByron Worthy vs Markus WinterMarkus Winter's shocking win vs Vic Baron last week suddenly puts him as the last man standing with a chance to unseat the reigning G2 winner. This is a must win for The Last Viking to keep his hopes alive. He'll have a tough wall to climb in fellow former Young Gun Byron Worthy, who is trying to bounce back from a brutally physical match with Toca last week. Both men are hungry to make a name for themselves, this match could steal the show. Vic Baron vs Skip LegdayShockingly, this match is purely for pride, with both men eliminating themselves last week from block competition. Still, this stands as a fantasy booking matchup between two of the top stars of their respective promotions with both men out to prove their prior performances were a fluke. It's not going to impact the finals, but it's the dark horse pick for match of the night nonetheless. Machine Gun Mayhem vs TocapelotasMachine Gun Mayhem can wrap up is second consecutive block- becoming just the third person to do so- and claim his spot in the finals with a victory here. All he has to do is beat that crazy ball grabbing lucha Toca in order to do it. This one is impossible to predict given the largely unpredictable nature of both men. We could see a five star match of the year candidate, or we could see a bunch of stupid shit that ends with someone literally dying in the ring. Either way, it seems like a fitting way to close out the show.

Not only did this turn out to be the best night of the tournament thus far in terms of match quality, it might rank as one of the best shows Warrior Pro Wrestling has ever put on. Front to back the card delivered great match after great match, with a record three "5 Star" matches. The impact to both blocks was also felt, with the Finals match-up in two weeks now clearer than ever. Scroll down for all the matches, recaps, and some very... passionate post show interviews.. Austin Baron vs Danny AngeloRecap:Austin needed a win to stay alive in the block, and a win he got. Despite his record Danny Angelo has proven himself time and time again in this tournament to be a rising star, but the red hot veteran once again controlled the match on his terms, and waited to pick a spot to hit the stunner for the pin fall. Winner: Austin Baron Rating: ****Doc Wyatt vs Jimmy HawkinsRecap:At last year's G2, this match ended up being a MotY candidate- their follow up this year is no different. Fast paced, action packed, these two traded haymakers from bell to bell. The conditions were oddly similar to last year as well- Doc needing a win to stay alive in the block, with Hawkins playing the role of spoiler. Jimmy seemed to have Doc dead to rights with a Hawk Splash that was somehow kicked out of, and The Outlaw would finally put away Hawkins with a Figure Four in the middle of the ring to stay alive in the tournament. Winner: Doc Wyatt Rating: *****Cowboy Johnston vs Pantero Negro JrRecap:The efforts of the previous two matches would only matter if Cowboy could manage to do what no one else had been able to, beat Pantero Negro Jr. It didn't happen, but not from lack of trying. Cowboy was strong and aggressive early on, and he seemed to have the rudo on his heels. So Pantero did what rudos do, and he found an equalizer in an exploding barbed wire bat that both men decided to throw each other on repeatedly. In the end, Cowboy's effort just wasn't enough once again- and the former Lucha POWER champion clinched the block a week early. Winner: Pantero Negro Jr Rating: *****Byron Worthy vs Markus WinterRecap:With any luck, these two fast rising stars will fight over a world championship one day. This match was an instant classic right from the beginning, with Markus hitting a Winter is Coming five minutes into the match. The shot seemed to energize Worthy, who valiantly fought back, put Winter on the brink of defeat multiple times before succumbing to a second Winter is Coming that would keep Markus alive in the block. Winner: Markus Winter Rating: *****Vic Baron vs Skip LegdayRecap:The only match on the card that had no implications on the block winners, Vic and Skip threw down as if it was a title fight. Vic targeted Skip's legs most of the match while Legday ignored and just kept trying to lariat the former Warrior Pro champ out of his boots. Skip's strategy ended up prevailing, nailing a vicious running elbow drop to hand Baron his third straight loss. Winner: Skip Legday Rating: ****Machine Gun Mayhem vs TocapelotasRecap:What a delightfully weird match. Everything Toca did, his entire approach to the contest, baffled and confused the usually destruction Machine Gun. Ball shots, wet willies, even straight up dancing all allowed Toca to get in offense and keep the big monster off balance. It all proved futile in the end, when the big man shrugged of the antics and thunderously ended the match with a Bone Crusher triple powerbomb- claiming the block as his. Winner: Machine Gun Mayhem Rating: ****After the show, several wrestlers made themselves available- but first Tank came out to address the elephant in the room…Markus Winter came to the podium to speak, but before he could say anything the same man from last week came out and whispered in his ear. Both men got up, the mystery man waving to the reporters, and exited the room.Doc Wyatt was next to the podium, sitting down in a huff and ignoring all questions before bursting into a rant....As Doc goes to exit, Pantero Negro walks in to take a seat. Without breaking stride Doc throws a clean hook right to the face of the lucha, knocking him to the floor as Doc pounces on top raining fire from the top till security comes to break the two up. Pantero never speaks to reporters, instead getting helped to the back as reporters could hear from the back Doc yelling "There's your injury report Tank!"Machine Gun took the podium next, sitting down but looking very distraughtSTANDINGS AFTER NIGHT THREE:
