Razor: Thanks for taking the time Tank. I guess you have more time for interviews now that you’ve delegated some of your work to your nephew?
Tank: (laughs) I guess so. Before too long, I’ll have too much free time, and you’ll want to interview Lefty for all the real details. But that’s still a ways away. The reality is Lefty’s been struggling with injuries over the past couple years, and we’ve had a lot of heart to heart talks about what comes next. He still thinks of himself as an active wrestler first, but if you were to ask myself or Austin that same question, we’d probably answer the same way. The key is I wanted more of a committee to make decisions, so that is largely why those two are in more established back stage roles. But I’m still the guy calling the shots, for better or worse.
Razor: Seems like as good a lead in as any, so what do we have coming up next for Warrior Pro?
Tank: Like in past years, our November show acts as our end of the year since the company takes December off. We want to end this shit show of a year proper, with the best show we can. So, on November 16th- Warrior Pro Wrestling will be LIVE from Gorilla Hall with END OF THE WORLD. All titles will be on the line. Plus, we’ll be hosting an iWe showcase match, a Young Gun will debut out of the Baron Wrestling School for the first time in almost two years, and Dragon Fire Japan star Hideki Nomo will make his Warrior Pro debut against Byron Worthy. This show will be stacked.
Razor: Any details on who will be the challengers for those titles? There was quite a bit of drama after the Destruction show…
Tank: At Warrior Grounds #21, in two weeks, we will get more clarity on opponents. Brick Casey has earned a shot at the IC belt, but with two impressive wins- Danny Angelo deserves a crack too. So at Warrior Grounds we’ll get Danny Angelo vs Doc Wyatt for the IC belt, and the winner will face Brick. Also at Warrior Grounds, The Baron Family will face Gears of War for the next shot at challenging the Reapers.
Razor: You skipped it, so I’ll ask. What is the status of the World Title, and specifically MGM’s challenge to John Logan?
Tank: So… that’s not a simple answer. Listen, I think you have to earn your shot. Losing matches should not lead you to a shot at the belt. And John was right, he has had plenty of opportunities and has not managed to take advantage of any of them. At the same time, we do seem light on challengers for Machine Gun. He already beat Vic, and he’s also riding a losing streak. He just beat Rampage, who is also on a losing streak. He beat Doc in the G2 Finals, and he has his own belt to defend. Meanwhile, John Logan did beat MGM twice earlier this year- something no one else has done.
Razor: So where does that leave you?
Tank: John doesn’t want anything handed to him, and I get that. So we’ve arranged a deal, and have actually signed a contract to bind both of us to the results. Red Masterson beat Vic Baron last week and took Machine Gun to the brink in the G2 tournament- if anyone else deserves a shot its him. So John Logan will face Red Masterson for a shot at the World Title on the line at Warrior Grounds. If John Logan loses, he will leave the promotion. If he wins, he has agreed to face Machine Gun under the condition that if he loses that match, he again will leave the promotion.
Razor: So basically, for John Logan to re-sign with the company, he will need to win his next two matches?
Tank: Thats the gist, yeah. He has already signed a new contract contingent on those two wins. And just for the record, I love John Logan. He was my first signing when I started this company. I hope he stays here forever. But there is no hotter wrestler in this business right now than Machine Gun Mayhem. And Red Masterson might be the future of this company going forward. John’s got an uphill climb.
