Warrior Pro Wrestling is proud to announce the Gorilla Memorial Tournament, which will crown the inaugural Warrior Pro Intercontinental Champion. The Tournament gets its name from Gorilla McDaniel, the late brother to owner Tank and father to Lefty McDaniel, who tragically passed away 10 years ago in a plane crash. Gorilla was a 5 time Intercontinental Champion in both WFoW and CWF, as well as a former tag team champion with Tank in the Texas territories. To honor his memory, a 14 man single elimination tournament will kickoff starting next week. On top of stars from within Warrior Pro, Tank has recruited rising talent from some of the best promotions in the country. Given their recent status of holding IC belts for other companies, both Rampage Hunter (iWe) and Jimmy Hawkins (AAW) have earned first round byes and will automatically advance to the second round. Gorilla Memorial Tournament: Round One Preview
The Gorilla Memorial Tournament kicks off this week with first round action spread over two nights. The winners will advance to next week and stay alive for a shot at becoming the inaugural Warrior Pro Intercontinental Champion. On top of some highly entertaining tournament matchups, each night has a showcase main event to cap off the night. Tune back in THIS THURSDAY & FRIDAY for all the Round One action!Night One Match PreviewsRoland Chang III (TIPWF) vs “Perfection” Jack GoldThe young stud from Texas Independent will face off against rising star and member of the Wonderland Dojo, Jack Gold. This one will be a classic speed vs power, as RC3 will try and contain the faster Gold while the tag team number one contender will attempt to keep this contest “in the air.” No doubt what happens outside the ring will have a part in this one as well, as both men are known to bring entourages- this will no doubt be an excellent kickoff match to the tournament. Roy Carter vs Trey TaylorRoy Carter has made a habit of picking on Training Grounds alum over the last year, but Trey Taylor could prove a dangerous opponent. While some may pencil in Roy as a shoe in for the final four, Taylor took Jimmy Hawkins to the brink and has all the tools to pull off the massive upset. Stan Classic vs Markus WinterExpect a good ol fashion brawl in this one. Winters impressed quite a few people with his performance in the G2 tournament, and now we’ll see if he’s been able to build on that experience- because it won’t be easy. Stan Classic is veteran with a well-earned reputation for ending an opponent’s night with a vicious closeline or four. Regardless of who comes out on top, this could be where to look for MotN. Showcase Main Event: Tank and Lefty McDaniel vs Gears of WarLefty asked for this match as a personal favor as a way to properly honor his father’s memory and kick off the tournament proper. So it will be Tank and Lefty against the fearsome former Tag Team Champions, Gears of War. Night Two Match Previews Kyle Anderson (Phoenix Rising) vs Cage Wageman (PCP)Night Two kicks off with to impressive outside talents facing off against each other for the “privilege” of meeting Rampage Hunter in Round 2. Both Anderson and Wageman bring impressive reputations from their home promotions, and both will look to broaden that reputation with a win that will not only move them to next week, but claim promotion bragging rights over the other. Maverick Reed vs Byron WorthyWorthy, after building a ton of hype following an upset over Rampage Hunter and an alignment with the Wonderland dojo, has seen his star fall in recent weeks as he struggles to find wins. Meanwhile Maverick Reed boasts an undefeated singles run in the promotion coupled with an impressive 2nd place finish in the 49th Parallel Tournament. A win for either man could be the launching pad to bigger things. Robino (iWe) vs Danny AngeloPerhaps Robino has been hearing the whispers around iWe- that the promotion seems to have Warrior Pro’s number. Obnoxio, Dirk van Oranje, King Nyu have all see success in between the ropes of the blue and yellow. Oh how sweet would it be for owner David Harley if he could claim to have the first Warrior Pro IC Champ under his umbrella. It won’t be an easy road for Robino however, as he’ll face the ultra dangerous Danny Angelo, who many pegged as the top talent in what is turning out to be an impressive inaugural class for Training Grounds. Showcase Main Event: The Jackson Hole Outlaws vs Cogburn RanchA preview of Deadeye’s main event, as Doc and Lariato bring their friends in a six man tag that’s sure to resemble a bar room brawl. Add to the mystery who will be joining Doc and Roy Carter, a question Doc has promised to answer ahead of the match…

Gorilla Memorial Tournament: Round One Night One As the show kicks off, Doc Wyatt comes out the ring to followed by a large well dressed man in cowboy boots. As he enters the ring he calls for a mic the crowd begins booing loudly…Roland Chang III (TIPWF) vs “Perfection” Jack Gold (w/ Byron Worthy)Recap:All kinds of drama in this one, even before the match started. As RC3 made his way to the ring with Chang Sr, the elder statesman of the Chang Gang grabbed a mic and said it was time RC3 proved his worth on his own, and that he needed to walk this journey alone. Chang Sr then left the ring, as the bell started. RC3 met the challenge head on as both he and Jack Gold put on a banger of an opener. It appeared that having Worthy would give Gold the advantage he would need to overcome the larger opponent, but the rookie seemed to distract the ref at the wrong times, and remove himself from the fight when Gold needed help. Eventually Chang caught Gold in a vicious body slam right near Golds corner would give him a three count without Worthy lifting a finger. Winner: Roland Chang III Rating: ****After the match Gold and Worthy got into a heated argument as they started walking backstage, with Gold giving Worthy a hard shove, which Worthy retaliated with a vicious elbow to the head knocking Gold out cold. Worthy pounced on Gold and continued to lay into his unconscious teammate before Stan Classic came out and pulled Worthy off of him, dragging the rookie to the back as a medical team tended to Gold… Roy Carter vs Trey TaylorRecap:The newest member of the Jackson Hole Gang, Red Masterson, accompanied Roy to the ring and instantly proved his worth, distracting the ref and breaking up two very likely submission attempts from the rookie that very likely would have resulted in a massive upset. Both Roy and Trey looked great in this one, putting on a technical back and forth match. But Red’s distractions proved too much for Trey to overcome as a neck drop into a kick to the head gave Roy Carter the edge. Winner: Roy Carter Rating: ****Stan Classic vs Markus WinterRecap: This match almost didn’t happen at all, as Worthy, set to walk out with Stan Classic, was banished to the back by the veteran. The two men got into it and it looked for a moment like we’d see another Wonderland Dojo skirmish. Worthy though eventually relented, flipping Classic off and heading to the back. The match was an instant classic as Markus Winter took the veteran to the brink, dropping him on his head twice for near counts, and hitting a “Winter is Coming” that was only saved by the fact that Classic was somehow able to get a hanging foot on the ropes. All the offense seemed to gas the rookie, and the wiley veteran was able to hit a thunderous lariat and grab the victory. Winner: Stan Classic Rating: ****After the match Classic helped the rookie up and raised his hand in a sign of respect. The two shook hands before departing the ring together… Tank and “Lanky” Lefty McDaniel vs Gears of WarRecap:An emotional match for both McDaniel’s turned into a solid performance for the family. But Gears of War, looking to get back into the tag team title picture were not feeling the nostalgia and overpowered the sentimental crowd favorites, earning the impressive victory. Winner: Gears of War Rating: ***After the match Lefty, tears in his eyes thanked the fans to a roaring ovation. Tank and Lefty embraced and it was announced that Lefty would be officiating the Finals of the tournament at Deadeye. STAY TUNED TOMORROW FOR NIGHT 2 OF THE FIRST ROUND!

Gorilla Memorial Tournament: Round One Night TwoResults after Night One: Vic Baron heads to the ring to kick off the show, grabbing a mic to address the crowd…Vic drops the mic and exits the ring as the crowd chants “Gorilla” “Gorilla” “Gorilla”Kyle Anderson (Phoenix Rising) vs Cage Wageman (PCP)Recap:Night two kicked off with a bang, as two Warrior Pro outsiders battled it out, showcasing the level of talent present in both Phoenix Rising and the up and coming PCP. Cade and Kyle stood toe to toe the whole match as the action teetered back and forth until Kyle was able to hit a top rope closeline into a german suplex for the victory. Winner: Kyle Anderson Rating: ****Maverick Reed vs Byron WorthyRecap:After all the drama from night one, it was no surprise that Byron Worthy came out alone to the ring in this one. What was surprising was just how impressive he was against a red hot Maverick Reed, who seemed like he may have been looking past the rookie into round two. Worthy dominated from bell to bell, cutting off Mavericks offense and eventually scoring the impressive victory. Winner: Byron Worthy Rating:***Robino (iWe) vs Danny AngeloRecap:This was a tough draw for Danny Angelo, getting matched up with the former 2 time iWe champion. Robino seemed to control the match from the start, and though Angelo made it interesting at times getting a couple of close near falls, the veteran weathered the storm and picked up a fairly strong opening round victory. Winner: Robino Rating:***The Jackson Hole Outlaws vs Cogburn RanchRecap:This wasn’t a match. This was a literal bar room brawl. Both sides went at it the whole match, only mildly obeying any kind of semblance of rules. At times it was difficult to pick out who the “legal” man was, as all six men were constantly brawling inside and outside of the ring. Eventually the time limit bell rang, though it seemed unclear if either side noticed or cared. Winner: DRAW Rating:****After the match security needed to be sent down to separate the two teams, with both Lil Lariato and Doc Wyatt jawing back and forth. Before a full split could be managed, Doc spit in Lariato’s face causing a brand new brawl between both teams that continued as the show was taken off the air… After the show, Lefty McDaniel tweeted out the following message:

Gorilla Memorial Tournament: Round Two PreviewResults after Round One: BEFORE WE GET STARTED, A BRIEF (NON-KAFAYBE) MESSAGE: Due to some RL stuff, the show will post on Thursday (tomorrow) instead of the publicized date of Friday. For the purposes of canon (aka I’m lazy) the show will still “take place” on Friday, but you all will have access to it a day early. This doesn’t really matter since its not being streamed, but I felt a message was needed nonetheless. Anyways, back to our regularly scheduled programming… The first round of the Gorilla Memorial Tournament was filled with great wrestling and some interesting post-match theatrics, including a full on brawl between the Cogburn Ranch and the Jackson Hole Outlaws. The stakes are that much higher for Round Two, where the winners will move on to face off ad DEADEYE on October 10th for a chance to be the first Warrior Pro Wrestling Intercontinental Champion. Read on for a full breakdown of this weeks match-ups…
“Flyin” Jimmy Hawkins vs Roland Chang III (TIWF) For the second consecutive week, RC3 will face a contrasting style as he faces high flyer Jimmy Hawkins. But the challenge will be ramped up as the impressive Change will face a much more accomplished foe. Hawkins, back from his excursion with AAW has been relentlessly focused and seems primed to make a name for himself out on the west coast. But a focused and committed RC3 could be showing the world that his upside potential is here and present, which would be a scary realization for the rest of the tournament field. Stan Classic vs Roy CarterRoy Carter wins matches, and he doesn’t really care how that happens as long as it does. His win last week was (mostly) by the book and another win here could get Carter one step closer to becoming the first wrestler to hold both a singles and tag team title. His immediate hurdle will not be an easy one though. Veteran Stan Classic stands as perhaps the biggest dark horse in the tournament, and could very well see himself in the finals if he can stay focused and not let whatever drama is brewing in the Wonderland Dojo team spill out into the ring. Kyle Anderson (Phoenix Rising) vs Rampage HunterKyle Anderson looked like a million bucks in his first match for Warrior Pro, and his reward will be facing the most physically imposing competitor in the field- former iWe IC champ and Warrior Pro world champion Rampage Hunter. These two have a ton in common, big brawlers that like to use their strength to overpower opponents. Can Kyle power his way to the final 4? Or will Rampage storm through his first match and lay claim to yet another singles title. Byron “Prime Time” Worthy vs Robino (iWe)What is up with Byron Worthy? The rookie made waves in the first round going after Jack Gold and Stan Classic before the latter kicked him out of his match. Shunned by the group he still managed an upset in round one, but his opponent for round two will not be so easy. Will Worthy be able to mend the fences he needs, or will he be left again on an island against a former iWe champion? Robino seems poised to let the world know that he’s a major player, but he better not be looking ahead or the impressive rookie just might drop him on his head and send him on his way….

Gorilla Memorial Tournament: Round Two The show kicks off with highlights from round one, and match previews for tonight’s fights…“Flyin” Jimmy Hawkins vs Roland Chang III (TIWF) Recap:RC3 again came out solo facing top seen Jimmy Hawkins, and the result was an instant classic of a match as both men looked like they had something to prove. This was a hellova back and forth match that saw Hawkins eventually hit the Hawk Splash for the victory. Winner: Jimmy Hawkins Rating:****Stan Classic vs Roy CarterRecap:It was announced before this match that Jack Gold would not be in the building, still recovering from his dust up with teammate Byron Worthy- who’s riff with Stan Classic meant the big vet came to the ring alone while Roy Carter traveled with Re Masterson. The match was just as physical and brutal as one would expect, with Classic looking like he may pull off the upset… until BYRON WORTHY came down to the ring and attacked Classic, creating something of a 3-1 disadvantage that should have put an unfortunate end to the match- except Stan Classic fought his way back, cleared the ring and looked to have all the momentum until Roy Carter cut him off and back to back GAME OVER piledrivers got the victory. Winner: Roy Carter Rating:*****After the match… Roy Carter continues to pound on Stan Classic as Byron Worthy and Red Masterson get into the ring and join in. As officials come ringside to break up the beating, Worthy grabs a mic…The three men pose in the ring over Classic’s lifeless body before celebrating to the back to a chorus of boos from the audience…Kyle Anderson (Phoenix Rising) vs Rampage HunterRecap:For a second straight week Kyle Anderson faced off against another promotions top star and looked like the future main eventer his talent always seemed to promise in Phoenix Rising. Both men threw each other around (literally) all match, and while it seemed like Rampage was getting ready to go for the kill, Anderson slapped on an arm submission seemingly out of no where to put the big man out. Winner: Kyle Anderson Rating:****Byron “Prime Time” Worthy vs Robino (iWe)Recap:”Prime Time” Worthy, the newest member of the Jackson Hole Gang, came out with both Roy Carter and Red Masterson against the iWe legend and proceeded to do everything in their power to screw Robino out of the match. Problem is, Robino didn’t seem to care, freely fought off all three members and proceeded to make comeback after comeback against the Outlaws. Tired of the interference, the referee sent numerous warnings threatening disqualification…. And finally followed through on that threat when, while trapped in a hammer lock, Red Masterson dragged Worthy’s foot to the ropes. Winner: Robino (via DQ) Rating:**** After the match Robino spent no time in the ring following the decision, quickly celebrating as he head to the back. The Outlaws took off after the official, who also split, before trashing the ring as the show went off the air…

Deadeye Press Conference CANCELLED Last night, Warrior Pro Wrestling was scheduled to have a press conference promoting their upcoming event- Deadeye, which will be LIVE Oct. 10th @7pm PT on Twitch. The press conference was scheduled to have the events main event, a heavyweight championship match between reigning champ Doc Wyatt and challenger Lil Lariato- but a brawl broke out between the two before anything could get started. Reports indicate the brawl started when Lariato confronted Doc backstage. Words were exchanged and it is believed that Lil Lariato threw the first blow- which erupted the staging area as both the Jackson Hole Outlaws and Cogburn Ranch immediately jumped in causing a mini riot. The brawl even spilled briefly into the actual press room, where reporters saw both Doc and Lariato exchanging blows before Warrior Pro owner Tank McDaniel separated the two, and eventually restored order before calling off the press conference and sending both teams home. In an interesting twist, Red Masterson was sucker punched by a member of Wacker Drive Revival's D-Team, who curiously were not even invited to the press conference. Freight Train was seen apologizing to the media "Uh, sorry about my girl there, she, uh, was just a bit ticked after that stuff at Midas's deal...." Warrior Pro released a statement following the cancellation: As they were being escorted out of the building, Cogburn Ranch found a camera and had this exchange… Doc Wyatt talked to a small group of reporters outside the building and had this to say about the incident and his opponent…

We’re just a couple days away from DEADEYE, the latest PPV from Warrior Pro Wrestling, and this one will be a big one. Three titles on the line, including the crowning of the first ever Warrior Pro Intercontinental Champion, who will be the last man standing in the Gorilla Memorial Tournament. You can view the latest standings of the tournament here: The show will kick off THIS THURSDAY at 7pm PT LIVE ON TWITCH!Match previews:Gorilla Memorial Semifinal Match: Kyle Anderson (Phoenix Rising) vs Robino (iWe) Both men come from outside Warrior Pro, and both have looked extremely impressive in the opening rounds of the tournament. This is a showcase of two proud West Coast promotions that could spoil the inauguration of a new Warrior Pro champ by taking the belt with them to their home wrestling company. Gorilla Memorial Semifinal Match: Roy Carter vs "Flyin" Jimmy HawkinsJimmy Hawkins has been a force since returning to Warrior Pro from AAW, and has quickly established himself as the man to beat in this tournament. Meanwhile Roy Carter keeps doing what he’s done since Warrior Pro opened its doors- win. Added to his cause is the fact that he’ll likely be backed by a contingent of the Jackson Hole Outlaws. For The Vacant Warrior Pro Tag Team Titles: Vic Baron and “Lanky” Lefty McDaniel vs The Gold StandardWith Austin Baron injured, Vic Baron needed a new tag team partner. With this event partially an ode to Lefty McDaniel’s father, a legendary tag team wrestler, it made sense for the two generational stars to team together and try and capture tag team gold. But they won’t have a walk in the park, as Gold Standard has looked unbeatable as of late, and will be looking to prove something coming off a tournament where they were screwed over by former ally Byron Worthy. Gorilla Memorial Tournament Finals- For the Intercontinental ChampionshipThe winners of the semi-finals matches will face off for a chance to become the first IC champ. As an added bonus, Left McDaniel will be the guest referee for the match. Warrior Pro Heavyweight Championship: “Gentleman” Doc Wyatt (c) vs Lil Lariato (TIPWF)This rivalry has, quite simply, exploded. What started in Texas Independent Pro Wrestling, when Lil Lariato beat Doc for the Lone Star Championship, has bled into the Warrior Pro ring. Doc called out Lariato after his win over John Logan, and the two have exchanged barbs, brawled in the ring, and at a press conference. There’s nothing left to be said, the score will be settled in the ring- with both Cogburn Ranch and the Jackson Hole Outlaws barred from ringside.

Deadeye proved to be a historical night for Warrior Pro Wrestling, as the event crowned the promotions first Intercontinental Champion, a guaranteed new Tag Team Champion, and a main event that could very well win Match of The Year. As always, scroll down for full matches, recaps and post show interviews… Gorilla Memorial Semifinal Match: Kyle Anderson (Phoenix Rising) vs Robino (iWe)Recap:A showcase of two outside talents also illustrated why the best wrestling might very well be on the West Coast. This opener pushed hard to steal the show as both men went back and forth the entire match. Robino seemed to have the match won with the Bionic Elbow, but Kyle kicked out and looked to be setting up Robino for an armbar submission before getting caught in a rollup, giving the iWe star the win and promotion bragging rights. Winner: Robino Rating: Gorilla Memorial Semifinal Match: Roy Carter vs "Flyin" Jimmy HawkinsRecap:A renewed rivalry saw two of the top young stars in Warrior Pro face off in a classic back and forth. Jimmy Hawkins seemed to have the match won with a superkick but, as has been the case all tournament, Red Masterson caused the distraction and broke up the pin. Roy powered back, hitting his Game Over piledriver twice… but both times Hawkins kicked out. Eventually a frankensteiner into a sitting superkick finished off Carter as Masterson desperately tried to get the refs attention. Winner: Jimmy Hawkins Rating: ****For the Vacant Warrior Pro Tag Team Titles: Vic Baron and “Lanky” Lefty McDaniel vs The Gold StandardRecap:This… was an odd one. As the bell rang Jack Gold dropped from the apron and refused to engage, essentially creating a 2-1 handicap match. Stan Classic never looked distressed and fought valiantly, but the numbers game never really gave him a chance. A Left Handed Scissors cutter from Lefty put the big man away and gave the son of Gorilla McDaniel a ceremonious victory on the day his father was being memorialized. Winner: AND NEEEW Tag Team Champions, McDaniel and Baron Rating: **After the match, confused, both Vic Baron and Lefty McDaniel embraced and gave a small celebration to the crowd before heading to the back, eyeing both Gold and Classic. The losing team exchanged words and Gold gave a shrug to the crowd as both men walked to the back…Gorilla Memorial Tournament Finals- For the Intercontinental ChampionshipRecap:A perfect ending to a highly entertaining tournament, as iWe and Warrior Pro did battle once again for Intercontinental gold, this time for the Warrior Pro strap. The match looked even in the start, and as the match went on Jimmy Hawkins seemed to be slowly gaining momentum. But the veteran Robino paced himself, and as Hawkins appeared too gassed to make it to the top rope for a Hawk Splash, Robino took over- hitting a Liger Bomb for a close near fall, then immediately followed up by a Bionic for the win. Winner: AND NEEEEEEW Intercontinental Champion, Robino Rating: ****Warrior Pro Heavyweight Championship: “Gentleman” Doc Wyatt (c) vs Lil Lariato (TIPWF)Recap:An instant classic, and no brainer finalist for Match of the Year. The story of this match- both men attempting to end with their running finisher, only to see it countered or avoided. Back and forth for the entirety of the match as neither man would give in until eventually Doc Wyatt would switch strategies and hit his Black Gold cutter to retain. Winner: And STILL Warrior Pro Wrestling World Heavyweight Champion, “Gentleman” Doc Wyatt Rating: *****
After the show, reporters had limited access to the wrestlers, with The Jackson Hole Outlaws denying all interview requests to celebrate “privately.” It was reported that Tank and Lefty were both unavailable due to a standing commitment in Mexico, and Robino/Jimmy Hawkins were both with doctors getting checked out after enduring two matches on the night (both were later medically cleared.Reporters were able to track down Jack Gold, who commented on his match (or lack there of):
